This was the second time Vipassana Meditation Centre (VMC) organized the Novitiate programme. The novices programme was presided by Sayadaw U Pannathami.

Mr Tin Maung Win was the Organizing Chairman. His son was also one of the novice. Another novice Chan Mya Lwin (Shin Kulapati) had participated the Novitiate Programme for two consecutive years. A total of 13 novices participated in this programme.

The novitiate programme was focused on the following areas: 1. Meditation. 2. Dhamma knowledge. 3. Application of dhamma to daily life and 4. Chanting.

Daily programme included chanting and meditation, Dhamma lesson, cleaning up VMC, lectures by external lecturers, life story of the Buddha, walking and sitting meditation, Pali study, prayer and sharing of merits, and personal session with mentor.
