Kathina
Robe Offering

The annual kathina robe offering will be held on Sunday the 14th November this year. Kathina as most of us are well aware, marks the end of the rains residence (Vassa). on this occasion, lay people come to offer robes to the community of monks (Sangha) whom have spent the vassa at the monastery, centre, temples or some other dwelling place (vihara).

This year, Sayadaw Pannathami, our religious advisor and meditation teacher had kindly consented to observe the vassa at VMC. We are indeed very happy to have Sayadaw with us this year as we are aware of the immense benefits that his presence can bring to the local Buddhist community. The benefits we are referring to here, not only covers opportunity for doing dana. What is more important is Sayadaw's years of experience as well as skills in teaching Dhamma and satipatthana meditation to a wide variety of students. We therefore invite you to come and avail yourself to this opportunity of learning directly from Sayadaw. Sayadaw will be with us till after kathina.

It gives us great joy to announce that at the time of writing this message, Sayadaw Pannanada's work permit had been approved subject to a favourable medical report. Sayadaw is currently in Singapore for his medical checkup. It has been quite a task just to be able to invite a Sayadaw to be resident at our center. Now that we are almost successful we hope the devotees would not let this opportunity slip by but to continue to come and learn and practice the Dhamma under the Sayadaw's skillful guidance.

Please do come and join us for the kathina robe offering and bring along your friends and family. Your continous support ensure that we can remain open for the benefits of our local yogis.
